The iatro alternative built by working NHS doctors.

iatro built one of the most polished GP-website products in the UK market, and a lot of practices have a long-running iatro contract. If your renewal letter has crept up year on year, if you can't get hold of your account manager when something's urgent, or if you've quietly felt over the past two years that you're paying for a product you barely interact with — this page is the side-by-side.

Where iatro is strong

iatro's design language is genuinely good. The product is mature, integrations are well-documented, and the underlying CMS is more flexible than most. If your practice has a power-user practice manager who enjoys editing templates and you're happy paying for that flexibility, iatro is a fine choice.

Where iatro doesn't fit so well is the practice that just wants the website to be a reliable, compliant, fast-to-update tool — not a craft. For most NHS GP surgeries I've spoken to, that's the actual brief.

Where Practice Digital is different

Three things. First, every patient-facing clinical page is signed off by a working NHS GP before it goes live. Not reviewed by an editor with a clinical glossary — reviewed by someone who'll be in clinic on Monday morning. Second, the price is locked. £399 a year today, £399 a year in 2030. No CPI uplift, no annual adjustment, no surprise renewal letter. Third, the support thread on the other end of your email is a clinician or a practice manager who has worked alongside one.

On price, we are typically £125–£175/year cheaper than iatro's standard package. Multiplied across five years that's £600–£900 of practice budget back.

What the switch looks like

Four-week timeline. We lift your existing iatro content, restructure it for the new templates, your clinical team signs off, DNS swaps on cut-over day, patients see no gap. We don't charge you for the new site until cut-over, so you never double-pay. The full playbook is on the switch page.

What you get

Bespoke design, NHS England benchmarking-compliant, Cymraeg under the Welsh Language Standards as standard, Polski / Română / Punjabi / Urdu included, WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, urgent updates published from your phone in under 60 seconds, 48-hour update SLA, annual compliance review, daily backups, direct WhatsApp + phone line for urgent issues, and free content migration if you ever leave.

Frequently asked questions

Will switching disrupt our patients?

No. The new site runs at a temporary URL during build. On cut-over day DNS swaps and the old site stops serving in the same instant. Patients see no gap.

What about our eConsult, AccuRx, SystmOnline integrations?

They all carry across. They live on the supplier side, not the website side — we just embed the same redirect or widget on the new site.

What if iatro push back on cancellation?

BCC us on the notice email. We've seen the playbook. Most pushback doesn't survive a careful read of the actual contract terms.
